Ngoma - Drumming Dancing and Singing

Experience an unforgettable evening of thrilling drumming, dancing and singing at a traditional Tanzanian Ngoma. The Udzungwa Forest Campsite will arrange the evening, where you will be entertained by local villagers dancing wildly to the rhythmic sounds of the african drums, singing "Karibuni Wageni" or "Welcome visitors" as well as many other songs about their daily life as farmers in the African bush.

This makes for a remarkable evening. As the night wears on and the campfire crackles, the drumming gets faster and the dancing wilder as the dancers begin to lose themselves in the rhythms. This is like no other experience, and will be undoubtedly a highlight of any visitor's trip.

The added bonus of the Ngoma is that the dancers are all local, born and bred in the nearby village of Mang'ula, and during the day they are all farmers, tilling the land by hand and working to feed their families. Their skills as performers and entertainers give them the opportunity to earn a little extra income to add to the little they bring in from their farms, and one show can make all the difference for these people and their families. By supporting the Mang'ula Ngoma, a guest at the Udzungwa Forest Campsite is contributing directly to the welfare of the village community and helping individuals and their familes to live a better life.
