Rubber Plantation

A visit to the rubber plantation and factory is a great way to spend an afternoon or morning. You can get there by car or also, much recommended, hire a bike and cycle through the forest to get to it which is really pretty (and cool).

At the factory, the administrator is happy to show people around, and he speaks great English. He will explain the whole rubber production process and you will be able to see this in action - tree planting, getting the raw rubber liquid from the trees, processing of the rubber, smoking and drying the rubber, hanging it from washing lines (it looks like toast!), and finally where where it goes next.

This is a unique opportunity to find out how something you take for granted every day is actually produced, and combined with a bike trip through the forest and surrounding villages makes for an interesting and enjoyable day trip.
